Why choose ABRATIG 1181 filler metal?
ABRATIG 1181 is a popular filler metal for welding low-alloy steels subjected to low temperatures or severe mechanical stress. Here’s why we choose it:
- Excellent low-temperature toughness
Thanks to its nickel content (~1%), ER80S-Ni1 remains highly resilient down to -50°C and even -60°C, making it an excellent choice for :
-pipelines in cold climates,
-cryogenic tanks,
offshore or frost-exposed structures.
- Good mechanical strength
It offers a tensile strength of around 550 to 620 MPa, making it suitable for structural or pressure connections (boilers, piping, etc.) with steels such as ASTM A516, A333, A350…
- Good weldability, low risk of cracking
Its balanced composition ensures stable melting, low spatter, and a thermally controlled affected zone, reducing the risk of cold or hot cracking.
