Why choose ABRATIG CuAl8 filler metal?
Choosing ABRATIG CuAl8 (8% copper-aluminium alloy) as a filler metal offers a number of advantages, particularly for specific, demanding applications. Here’s why we choose it:
- Ideal for welding aluminum bronzes
TIG CuAl8 is designed for welding :
-aluminum bronzes (e.g. CuAl5, CuAl8),
-pure copper parts with aluminum-bronze,
-even steel with aluminum bronze in some cases.

- High resistance to corrosion (even in marine environments)
Thanks to its aluminum content (~8%), this alloy forms a protective oxide layer that makes it :
highly corrosion-resistant,

- Good mechanical and wear resistance
TIG CuAl8 combines :
-robustness,
-excellent resistance to erosion and abrasion,

It retains good mechanical properties even at relatively high temperatures, making it suitable for certain hot industrial applications.
- Beautiful weld bead finish
Thanks to its good TIG fluidity, ABRATIG CuAl8 produces clean, homogeneous beads with good wettability, which is useful for both technical welding and visible finishing.
