Why choose ABRATIG 316L filler metal?
Choosing ABRATIG 316L (Si-free) as a filler metal is a safe and consistent decision when welding austenitic stainless steels type 316 or 316L, especially when the priority is corrosion resistance and reliability in aggressive environments.
Here’s why we choose it:
- Excellent corrosion resistance
316L contains molibdenum (Mo), which reinforces its resistance to pitting corrosion, particularly in the presence of chlorides (salt water, chemicals, humid environments, etc.).
- Low carbon content = less intergranular corrosion
L” (Low carbon) stands for low carbon content, which prevents the formation of chromium carbides during welding. The result: less risk of corrosion around the bead, even without post-weld heat treatment.
- Excellent TIG welding performance
316L welds very well, with good arc stability, little spatter, and an easy-to-control molten pool. Even without the addition of silicon, the result is a clean, even bead.
