Abrafil 430
430 stainless steel welding wire
Product description
Solid solid wire for gas-shielded welding of 17% chromium stainless steels designed to resist corrosion in saline environments and dilute organic acids, at operating temperatures not exceeding 450°C. Good resistance to sulfurous oxidation of exhaust gases up to 900°C. This grade (430) is commonly used for relining or underlaying casting rollers in steelworks, piping, fittings, valve seats, etc.

Why choose ABRAFIL 430?
1. Compatibility with ferritic steels
-
ABRAFIL 430 is ideally suited to welding AISI 430 and similar ferritic stainless steels.
-
It preserves the alloy’s ferritic structure, without the risk of hot cracking that can occur with unsuitable wires.
2. Good oxidation resistance
-
Good resistance to hot oxidation (up to approx. 800°C).
-
Suitable for parts subject to moderate, but not extreme, temperatures such as 310.
3. Reduced cost
-
The absence of nickel makes it considerably less expensive than austenitic stainless steels (304L, 316L…).
-
Good choice for economical applications with moderate corrosion requirements.
4. Low thermal expansion
-
Ferritic stainless steels such as 430 have greater dimensional stability when heated and cooled – useful for preventing deformation.
