Product description

Also known as ER347Si according to the AWS standard, this niobium (Nb)-stabilized austenitic stainless MIG wire has a slightly increased silicon content to improve weldability. It is specially designed for welding 347 or 321 stainless steels, but can also be used in certain technical cases on other stabilized austenitic stainless steels.

Why choose ABRAFIL 347Si?

1. Designed for stabilized stainless steel (type 347 and 321)

  • ABRAFIL 347Si is niobium-stabilized, which prevents the precipitation of chromium carbides at high temperatures → very good resistance to intergranular corrosion.

  • Particularly useful for stainless steel :

    • subjected to prolonged high temperatures

    • or post-weld heat treatments

2. Good resistance to corrosion and hot oxidation

  • Ideal for applications exposed to hot, oxidizing environments: heat exchangers, boilers, furnaces, hot gases, etc.

  • Improved resistance to severe thermal environments compared with 308LSi.

3. Silicon = solderability and aesthetics

  • Si (≈ 0.8 to 1.0%):

    • improves bath fluidity

    • makes the cord smoother and shinier

    • promotes wettability

    • ensures a stable arc and low spatter → perfect for visible or robotic welding

4. Versatility on complex parts

    • weld stainless steel 347 ↔ stainless steel 347

    • or stainless steel 347 ↔ stainless steel 304/304L in high-temperature areas (with caution)
