Why choose ABRATIG 904L filler metal?
Choosing ABRATIG 904L filler metal (a high-alloy stainless steel alloy, also known as 1.4539 or Alloy 904L) is an excellent option when welding or repairing parts made of highly corrosion-resistant stainless steels, especially in very aggressive environments.
Here’s why we choose it:
- Excellent corrosion resistance
The 904L is designed to withstand :
- pitting and crevice corrosion,
- corrosion in acidic environments, including sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and nitric acid,
- intergranular corrosion (thanks to its low carbon content),
- chloride corrosion (seawater, saline solutions).
- Excellent resistance to aggressive environments
It is one of the few economical stainless steels that combines molybdenum, nickel and copper in its composition,
making it resistant to environments where other stainless steels such as 316L fail.
- Good TIG weldability
904L welds well with the TIG process:
- without special precautions against hot cracking,
- without post-weld heat treatment in most cases,
- with good bead quality and excellent molten metal integrity.
