Product description

TIG wire for welding austenitic Cr Ni Mo stainless steels. Improved wetting due to high silicon content. Very low carbon content ensures good resistance to intergranular corrosion.

Assembly of stainless steels with 16 – 21% Cr, 10 – 15% Ni and 0 – 3% Mo, stabilized or not. Service temperature: max. 400°C.

Why choose ABRATIG 316LSi filler metal?

ABRATIG 316LSi is one of the most widely used filler metals for welding stainless steels, and is particularly appreciated for its versatility, corrosion resistance and the aesthetic quality of its welds.

Here’s why we choose it:

  1. Excellent corrosion resistance

316L is an austenitic stainless steel containing molybdenum, which greatly improves its resistance to :

  • corrosion in chlorinated environments (seawater, salty steam, etc.),
  • pitting and crevice corrosion,
  • weak to moderate acids.

The “L” stands for “Low Carbon”, so :

  • very low carbon content → reduced risk of intergranular corrosion after welding (no need for post-weld heat treatment in most cases).
  1. Silicon (Si) for improved solderability

Si (Silicon) improves :

  • the fluidity of the melt,
  • the wettability of the cord,
  • weld aesthetics (more regular beads, fewer inclusions),
  • metal flow during welding, particularly useful for TIG welding.
  1. Good mechanical strength and excellent ductility

Even at low temperatures, 316LSi retains good toughness. It is often used in :

  • cryogenic structures,
  • environments subject to vibration or fatigue.
  1. Excellent TIG weldability
  • Few splashes, clean, smooth cords,
  • Low risk of hot cracking,
  • Ideal for visible or precision welds, even in thin-walled piping.
