Why choose ABRATIG Cu filler metal?
The use of ERCu TIG wire (also known as ER Cu or pure copper wire) may be relevant in certain specific cases. Here are the main reasons for choosing this filler metal:
- Pure copper
ERCu TIG wire is essentially unalloyed copper.
It can therefore be used to weld pure copper or alloys with a very high copper content.
- Excellent thermal and electrical conductivity
- Pure copper is unbeatable for conductivity (electrical and thermal).
- So it’s the logical choice for electrical or heat transfer applications, when you don’t want to alter the properties of the base copper.
- Easy post-weld machining
Welds made with ERCu are generally easy to machine, if required.
This can be important for precision parts.
- Few alloys in the molten zone
- ERCu is chosen when you want to avoid adding nickel, tin or other elements.
- It’s also useful when you want to preserve the natural color of the copper, for example for visible or decorative soldering.
