Why choose ABRATIG AlSi5 filler metal?

Choosing ABRATIG AlSi5 (full name: ER4045 or sometimes ER4045/AlSi5) means opting for an aluminum filler wire with 5% silicon. It’s one of the most commonly used wires for TIG welding of aluminum. Here’s why:

  1. Very good weldability

Silicon greatly improves the fluidity of the molten bath, resulting in smooth, even penetration, ideal for long, homogeneous welds.

Low risk of hot cracking compared to other aluminum alloys.

  1. Good corrosion resistance

The addition of silicon improves corrosion resistance, particularly in damp or slightly aggressive environments.

  1. Clean visual appearance

The fluid molten bath produces highly aesthetic welds, with low porosity, if the shielding gas is correctly adjusted (usually pure argon).

Less risk of inclusions or visual defects.
