Mechanical characteristics

Why choose ABRAFIL UP 420?

1. Suitable for martensitic and wear-resistant steels

420 wire is a martensitic stainless steel alloy with a high chromium content (~13%), giving it excellent hardness (~500 HB after heat treatment) and high abrasion resistance. It is often used for welding or reloading mechanical parts subject to wear.

2. High resistance to moderate corrosion and heat

The deposit exhibits good corrosion resistance, particularly in mildly aggressive environments, as well as structural stability up to around 600°C, making it useful for applications exposed to moderate thermal stress.

3. Good hardfacing properties

SAW 420 is frequently used for hardfacing technical parts such as rollers, tools, shaft bearings, bushings, turbines and valve seats, when a hard, friction-resistant surface is required.

4. Submerged arc welding = bath quality and high yield

In the SAW process, 420 wire enables high deposition rates with excellent protection against oxidation thanks to the flux. Result: clean soldering, controlled penetration, low porosity.

5. Diverse industrial applications

It is used in the mechanical, petrochemical, hydroelectric and mining industries, wherever metal components have to withstand wear and mechanical fatigue.
