Why choose this cored wire?

  1. Ideal for hardfacing on carbon and low-alloy steels

309L contains 24% chromium and 13% nickel, making it a filler metal highly tolerant to metallurgical differences. It is often used for :

-buffering before applying a final coat (e.g. 316L, 308L),

-weld stainless steel to carbon steel (dissimilar applications).

  1. Open arc technology = no gas required

The big advantage of open arc cored wire is that it needs no external protective gas.

  1. Very good resistance to cracking

Thanks to its nickel content, 309L has a very stable austenitic structure, which limits cracking even on sensitive or overheated materials.

  1. Corrosion and heat resistance

This wire is stainless, and its low carbon content (“L” for Low Carbon) reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion. It can be used at temperatures up to 300-350°C without concern.

  1. Easy to use and efficient

Open arc cored wires are popular for :

-high productivity,

-the ability to weld in several positions,
