Phosbraz M73
Brazing manual: CuP for capillary brazing
Product description
The higher the phosphorus percentage, the greater the castability.
This highly fluid alloy has been specially designed with perfect metal outgassing to offer the user maximum operating comfort. Recommended for capillary brazing of pipes and connections, water heaters, refrigeration systems. Mainly used by plumbers and heating engineers.
Like all CuPs, it is self-stripping on red brass.
It can be used on copper alloys (bronze, brass) with our Phosbraz flux.
Rods Ø 1.5 – 2 – 2.5 – 3 mm, standard length 500 mm. Other dimensions on request. Also available in wire.

Why choose PHOSBRAZ M73?
1. Specially formulated for copper ↔ copper
-
Ideal for brazing copper tubes and fittings, particularly in :
-
plumbing networks,
-
refrigeration,
-
heating,
-
or inert gas installations.
-
-
Not suitable for copper alloys (such as brass) without flux → phosphorus can embrittle certain zinc-containing metals.
2. Fluxless on copper
-
Phosphorus acts as a deoxidizer → no need for flux on pure copper.
-
This allows :
-
clean, residue-free welds,
-
reduced cleaning time and costs,
-
and easy weldability, even on site.
-
3. Cost-effective solution
-
Contains no silver → much more economical than PHOSBRAZ AG50 or AG100 type solders.
-
Ideal for high-volume applications or large-scale plumbing installations.
4. Good mechanical strength (within the thermal limits of copper)
-
Suitable for assemblies under moderate pressure, not subject to extreme vibration or high temperatures.
-
Good resistance to water, pressure and compatible refrigerants.
5. Controlled brazing temperature (~710-890°C)
-
Low enough not to damage the copper,
-
High enough to guarantee a solid joint over time.
