Why choose ABRATIG CuNi10 filler metal?
Choosing ABRATIG CuNi10 wire (90/10 copper-nickel alloy) can be an excellent option, depending on the type of application. Here are the main reasons for choosing this alloy for TIG welding:
- Mechanical properties and corrosion resistance
- Excellent corrosion resistance, especially in marine environments (sea water, brackish water, etc.).
- Excellent resistance to erosion-corrosion, even at high fluid flow speeds.
- Good behavior in slightly acidic or polluted environments.
- Correct thermal and electrical conductivity
- Although less conductive than pure copper, CuNi10 retains sufficient conductivity for thermal applications.
- Temperature-stable, it resists expansion and thermal shock.
- Metallurgical compatibility
CuNi10 is often used to weld parts of the same alloy, but it is also compatible with other copper-nickel alloys, and even certain stainless steels, depending on the application.
- Easy TIG welding
- Excellent arc behavior: stable melting, low spatter.
- Less sensitive to hot cracking than some copper or aluminum alloys.
- Enables clean, aesthetic welds with low porosity
